You know, opposites don't always attract, right?
In Naruto... NaruSasu, now, I love that pairing on a regular basis, but come on. Naruto is a ditzyhead who occasionally, and mind you, only occasionally has these spouts of maturity. Sure, he fights valiantly and I respect him for that, but it's a childish honor. So simpleminded and straight forward. Sasuke, although whiny, is a rather deeper character. He has his childish dream of killing is brother, but that can be developed into something deeper, possibly as he grows older and matures a bit more. And Sasuke is a rather quiet guy. A little hungry for power, a little on the dark side (as opposed to Naruto's blinding greatness), but generally a solitary figure. A quiet, unbimbo-y character, like Naruto. How could they possible stand each other? Neji, on the other hand (from what we know of him, of course) is quiet, reserved. A little messed up in the brain, with his craziness about his class as a Hyuuga, but a respectable character that can be compared to Sasuke in many aspects. They are completely different characters, but at least they have some common ground. Sure, Sasuke and Naruto may have developed into friends later in the story, but they'll end up cussing each other out if they ever become something other than friends.
In GW... Heero Yuy and Duo Maxwell. Not a particularly favorite character of mine. Now, Heero has emotion, I understand that, but he's more of a reserved character as well. Quiet, silent... those broody, moody, typical anime/manga heros that fangirls gush all over. Duo Maxwell is ditzy. Hyper, and constantly laughing. I like it when writers portray him as a guy who's just trying to enjoy life and laugh when he can, but can get incredibly seriously mean when he's truly offended... but I don't like it when authors portray him as a sweet, sappy guy. In this case, I don't understand how Heero could stand Duo. They're just too different. It wouldn't look or seem right. Now, if Heero was with Wufei, they both would be serious guys with sticks-up-their-asses, but there is also the wonderful way of showing Wufei as trying to be mechanical, like Heero, but surpressing emotion. And Heero, realizing that he really isn't that mechanical... Maldoror does a simply fabulous job of doing that in her fic, The Arrangement... some are meant-to-be, like 3x4... but... 1x2? I don't like it.
In Yu-Gi-Oh... there is puppyshipping. And honestly, I don't see why a dignified guy like Seto Kaiba would ever go for a low-class, accent-speaking guy like Jou. It just doesn't seem to fit his personality. Sure, maybe there are billionaires out there that would marry "beneath them", and I love fiction like that (slave fics, so sweet sometimes), but... this is taking it a bit too far, donchathink? The closest person Kaiba would ever possibly have a relationship with is, possibly Yami, because Yami beats him in Yu-Gi-Oh, and... a rather devotion or whatnot forms between them. There is also the very-popular Ancient Egypt theory, seeing as Seto was the High Priest for Pharaoh Atemu...
But seriously, the point is. Opposites. Just. Don't. Attract. I'm not saying a prep would never go out with a goth. No, not like that. I'm talking about personality wise, I just can't see particular characters going together. Sometimes, it depends on how the author portrays it, but purely based off of canon, some couplings I cannot even, with my wildly imaginative fangirl mind, go together.
Or maybe I'm just an angst-freak.

But anywhoo! Writing the second chappie right now, and revising the first chappie (so beta-dear can do less work. xP)
If by next Sunday or Monday, she still hasn't replied, I'm posting the first chappie. YAY!

The third chapter is half-way done. Yes, Im proud. I was almost done with it a while ago, but then I suddenly realized it didn't seem to make sense, so I deleted it. XD
So... i havent completely lost hope on this story yet... o_o
